”What the
hell am I doing here?” Probably this is the question that all the people
starting a new live abroad ask to themselves at some point. Either for
professional, academic or other reasons. In my case I’ve come to Copenhagen,
Denmark to study Civil Engineering, which is known in Spain for a much cooler
name, Ingenieria de Caminos, Canales y Puertos. Within the next two years I will
be studying a MSc in the Denmark Technical University or DTU.
After
coming back from Helsinki I took the decision that I wanted to study abroad
again, so after a long and tedious process full of worries, disappointments and
eventually joy I got accepted in the DTU to study the MSC in Civil Engineering.
Some people might believe that I’m crazy for keep studying after the nightmare which is my current
college, ETSI Montes, but I have to say that I still had one year of studies
remaining so why don’t study two years instead of one so I get another degree?
To all that call me crazy, I answer them back you guys are the insane ones
staying in Spain with the current Crisis. I won’t make the mistake of saying
that my decision is the best one, nor that I have my success guaranteed, but at
least in some years, in the unemployment office I could say to myself “You did
your best” and no one could take that away from me.
However, I have
to say that I had a job interview in Copenhagen, even before that leaving
Spain. I might not get the job, but at least I got something that seems
impossible in Spain right now, so I truly believe that taking my suitcase and
becoming an expatriate was a great decision.
How
everything will end? We’ll see…
