FC Copenhagen vs Stuttgart

Two weeks ago we went to watch the Europa League game FC Kovenhavn vs VfB Stuttgart. Is not that I suddenly became a fan of mediocre football but ESN was giving free tickets and of course as we got some why waste them( Florentino, watch and learn. I want free tickets for Champions League in Bernabeu next time) There were a number of differences during the pre-game time comparing with a normal game in Madrid. First of all the mix of supporters. Nothing to do with Bernabeu surroundings with the National Police riding giant horses while shepherding visitor supporters. Here the crowd was happily mixed with their beers, their songs and so on. If you get close to one of the previous mentioned police officers the best you can expect is to get hit. But here, the police were just one more of the crowd joking, chatting, taking pictures, etc…

Truth to be told the game was quite poor; Copenhagen doing its best supported by its silent fans and Stuttgart waiting to get some chances with any counterattack. The most interesting moment was when the hooligans of Stuttgart started throwing flares. Nothing I hadn’t seen before but, when they added fireworks to the “show” I was surprised. Of course this kind of behavior should be avoided in football but It can add some spicy to the game though. Anyway, despite what Vanessa thought, no one is going to believe that Stuttgart people is like those hooligans.

Besides flares and fireworks is always nice to do something different during the week.

P.S. Stuttgart won 0-2 but that wasn’t important at all.

Logic not found

That’s what I think anytime I got kicked out of the Data bar in Civil Engineering building.
Let’s explain first what a Data bar is (If you study or have studied in DTU you may skip this part) Data bar is how the computer room is called, here in DTU.  But this is DTU, my friend. Your UPM pc is not even fit to tie the shoelaces of DTU computers. Not even if you study in the Telecommunication faculty. First time I used one pc here I thought I’d cry.  i7 processors, RAM enough to run any software with really good performance. And the most wonderful detail is that every computer has two 20” screens. And there are enough computers to all the students all over campus.

Now is when I explain the title of this post. Among the most exigent software we find those Architectura Engineering related. And of course after having worked with the computer of regular Data bars I expected pc’s with 30” screen faster than the light. Nothing further from the truth. 15” screens, barely bigger than your laptop. You switch on the pc and wait for a while to log in. During this “while” you’ve got time to go to the toilet to do a “number one”, a “number two”, play foosball (really popular in Denmark), grab a coffee, go to the “black hole” in the canteen, get back and still wait 5 minutes before you are able to actually work.

Summarizing, whereas in the room that we should have better computers, we’ve got pc’s as slow as turtles  in the other rooms they have computers that would fulfill any gamer needs. As useful as hanging VanGoghs and Da Vincis on the walls of a blind hospital.

Freaks, freaks everywhere...

The other day was a freak day. I thought that nothing could be freakier than visiting the biggest wind farm installation vessel Pacific orcha . At the moment I didn’t know how wrong I was. After visiting the mentioned boat and going to Tivoli (the most famous amusement park in Denmark) we suggested, “why don’t we go to Cellar Bar?” (The bar located in the middle of the campus) Since I’ve had good parties there we headed there. Such a mistake…

We arrived and found out that the “crème de la crème”  or as Petros said, “The Virgin society” had gathered there. We saw ourselves surrounded by a selected group of people that didn’t have anything better to do than spending the night playing Monopoly….Pokemon Monopoly!!!! Hell yeah! Whereas the young people go out party and have fun, there is an privileged elite of DTU students that try hard to waste their lives. But the worse part of the history is that, there we were, among such a Latin lovers crowd, with our beers and shots (Thanks Jonathan, for making me taste the worst shot of my life, tequila, tabasco and sambuco)

We met really weird specimens such as the half-naked with a piggy hat guy or the grandpa that was mad at her daughters because they studied Spanish instead of German at school (Ooooooole!!!)
Truth to be told it was such an experience to interact with people that the closest to sex they’ve ever been was the day they were conceived. If I’m lucky I won’t go through that situation again till the end of my days. But in the meanwhile I will always have memories of that extraordinary night stuck in my mind.

FUTSAL? In Denmark

“Is this futsal?” That’s what I asked myself the other day when they explained Danish futsal rules.
First thing that called my attention was the number of player. They don’t play 5 to 5 but 4 to 4. I don’t really know if this Danes are in an extremely perfect shape, they love doping or just love to get wasted playing football.

Second difference. No goalkeeper and no one can use his hands. The lack of a goalie is coherent with the number of players but I don’t get that if there is a penalty you can’t use your hands! Are they that lousy players that need such an advantage in a penalty kick? Come on, what’s next? Blindfold the goalie? Nonsense

But my favorite rule was the number of defenders. You can only defend with 3 guys, the last one cannot go beyond the midfield. This way the fourth player becomes as useless as a traffic cone that can only observe how the other team executes his teammates.
The field is surrounded by a wooden wall that you can play with. Is like being back in school when the walls were another player.

Of course I cannot but mention the lack of competitiveness. Here everyone plays. Nothing to do with Spain. If you are a fatty boy with no skills, it does not matter. Eh, equality is well promoted, that’s for sure. But the spirit of overcome is at the same level that Spanish economy. I am sorry but “the important thing is taking part” is one of the biggest lies of this world only exceeded by “I have read and accept the terms and conditions” and “We can still be friends”

Well, it seems that I better adapt to that sport mix of futsal, handball and hockey…

Pongamos que hablo de Madrid

After 27 years and so many farewells there’s something that never changes. The same song sounds into my mind every time I’ve packed my stuff and walked through my door. “Pongamos que hablo de Madrid” of Joaquin Sabina. It is true that, even though , I am a current fugitive, I will always end up on the streets of Madrid, its bars and with its people.
