Courses this semester

To make sure that you don’t think that I’m wasting my time, here in DTU, I’m going to tell you about the courses I am taking this semester. As you may know I hate stress and due to that I am attending only 4 courses 5 ECTS each during the first 13 week period of the year.

-Advanced Building Information Technology. By the time I wrote this in the Spanish version I thought it was only about how to use Revit but know I’ve realized that is much more than that.  Revit is CAD software focused on Civil and Architectural Engineering. As I just said we are “learning” other programs such as Rhino, Grasshopper, Solibri…I’d like to make a special mention to Grasshopper. If anyone asked me, “what it is Grasshopper about?” My answer would be “Imagine that you are an architect that hates students and have developed a mental disease with paranoid symptoms, you got that? And now imagine that you want to make some software to ruins your student life. Then you know what is Grasshopper”

-Building fire safety. So far, the course I’ve liked the most. It deals with everything related with fires in buildings (one would’ve never expected that from the name, right?) How much time would need your 200 pounds 5th floor neighbor to get out of your rambling building, or how much smoke can produce 12gr of a burning mattress (You’d be amazed of the mess that little amount of mattress can do)

-Concrete technology. Easy to guess, right?

-Heat and mass transfer in building. Thermodynamics applied to buildings. Truth to be told, is really bores me. It is as boring as Thermodynamics back in Madrid, but without the incentive of having an unpredictable moron as professor that makes every lecture an unforgettable performance.
